Outreach
HMLP is committed to working with residents, business owners and local officials in Hingham and Weymouth to be open and transparent about the Hingham Electrical Infrastructure Reliability Project. Here is a summary of the public meetings to acquaint attendees with the project and to solicit feedback:
- HMLP held virtual Community Meetings in Hingham regarding the proposed project on October 18, 2021 and November 18, 2021.
- On April 30, 2022, Hingham Town Meeting approved a warrant article authorizing HMLP to obtain custody and control of a parcel of land at the Town’s transfer station for purposes of constructing and operating a new substation.
- On August 25 and September 13, 2022, HMLP held Community Open Houses at the Tufts Public Library in Weymouth to provide information to Weymouth residents and businesses regarding the proposed 115 kV transmission project, and, in particular, HMLP’s preliminary proposed route and preliminary alternative route. At these Open Houses, HMLP received valuable feedback from Weymouth citizens.
- On September 28, 2022, HMLP held a Community Open House in Hingham at the Hingham Public Library to solicit feedback from Hingham residents regarding HMLP’s proposed route and substation in Hingham and to answer questions regarding the project generally.
- On October 12, 2022, HMLP held a virtual Community Open House via Zoom for both Hingham and Weymouth residents and businesses. Like the earlier Open Houses, HMLP presented information during the Zoom meeting regarding the proposed project and received feedback from residents and businesses regarding the preliminary proposed and alternative routes.
